Dodgy HTML rendering on IE5.5 at msn.com
Microsoft recently started locking out non IE browsers from MSN.com on the absurd premise that there were rendering faults in these browsers. Below is shown a screen grab of IE 5.5sp2 displaying the front page of msn.com about 12.00 noon BST on 26/10/2001. This page shows clear rendering faults with the text in a nunumber of boxes being chopped of (look at the text to the right of and below the central photo). This fault was reproduced on several machines.
If MS are going to lock out browsers for having 'rendering faults' they should lock out IE5.5, which clearly has such faults.
Ironically enough the page displayed perfectly on the KDE 2.2.1 version of Konqueror once I was able to get around the browser lock-out by changing the user agent string.
